SOME ADDITIONAL HINTS FOR SUCCESS

1.    When your Veterinarian detects the first day of heat for your mare, please contact us immediately.

2. Have your Veterinarian contact us at least twice:

-When he/she first approximates the date of ovulation.

-When he/she wants semen to be shipped.

3. Please call 24 hours before you want semen shipped. In order to meet demands, we schedule our collections the morning of the day it is to be shipped. To best serve you we need your order in advance of this so that we may schedule the stallion collection. The breeding fee and shipping fees need to be paid in advance of shipment.

This means that your Veterinarian will need to track your mare via ultrasound frequently during her heat cycle. Your Veterinarian will make their best estimate for predicting ovulation.  Keeping your own records and understanding your mare's breeding history is very beneficial! Do not expect your mare to cooperate perfectly every heat cycle - they don't read the book! You may need additional shipments two days apart or you may miss it altogether and need to plan for the next heat cycle. If your mare has a follicle over 35 mm, your veterinarian may give her an injection to induce ovulation and possibly eliminate the need to order another shipment. Talk to your Veterinarian about all your options.

4. When you receive your container, DO NOT OPEN IT until your Veterinarian is present and is ready to inseminate! Please be sure to notify us of the status of your mare following the insemination.

5. Please notify us when you mare has been checked in foal. We recommend an ultrasound at approximately 15 – 16 days after the detection of ovulation, with a follow up ultrasound at 30 days post ovulation. Ideally an ultrasound to detect a heartbeat at this stage is desired.

GOOD LUCK! We will do everything to make sure that your experience a good one!
